On December 8th 2011, the Virginia Tech University, lifted its lock down on the school after 2 people were shot dead on campus. That was one of the most deadliest shootings in U.S history. In the conference, police authority, said that they do no believe there is any more threat to the campus. A campus police officer was killed while going by a normal routine, covering the campus. It was said that the shooter was wanted by the police, but then announced that a second body was found and that there was no evidence of the shooter being on campus. The police had claimed that the shooter was the second body found, but wouldn't go into detail about it.
I think its really sad,on how many shooting take place in the U.S. For example, in 2007, a massacrer of 32 people were killed in the same university. we, as Canadians should help by setting an example

Baby lives, but death toll grows high after Turkey earthquake
October 25th 2011
http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/TopStories/20111025/van-turkey-earthquake-aftershocks-111025/
A Turkish rescue crew, was amazed to find a 2 week old baby, and her mother still alive, after a 7.2 magnitude earth quake had hit and collapsed the whole building they were in. They had sent the smallest of the rescue crew, to go into the building and see if there were any survivors. They sent the smallest, because he was agile and small enough to fit through the tight spaces. Amazingly, he found a 2 week old baby, and her semi-conscience mother under the rubble. There was nothing heard of the girls father, as he could still have been in the building.
The officials in Turkey, had said that 432 people died, and over 1000 injured.
I think its amazing that the rescue crew in Turkey had saved two lives. It is, although, unfortunate that so many people got either injured or died. It is sad, that the people of Turkey have suffered such a terrible dilemma, and have to call upon the aid of other countries to help them solve it.So many buildings crashed, and many lives were lost. I personally, will send a donation to help the people of Turkey rebuild.

Up to 1,000 killed after earthquake, scientists say.
October 23rd 2011
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/africa-mideast/up-to-1000-killed-after-turkey-earthquake-scientists-say/article2210620/
A estimated 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit eastern Turkey this Sunday, collapsing approximately 45 buildings. In an instant, one death was confirmed, but scientists say that the death rate could have ranged from 500-1,000. But the most damage was done at Erics, the mountainous, eastern province of Van. Van itself had also suffered great damage. Rescue workers, had to use there own bare hands to try and pry people from under the buildings that have collapsed on them.
In my perspective, these kind of tragedies are completely unacceptable. That's why, in my mosque, we have an emergecy earthquake drill going on. This drill should be spread into turkey, the middle east, and India, because that's where most of the earthquakes occur. If this measure was to be taken, it is almost guarenteed that thousands and thousands of lives will be saved.

Bullied son of Ottawa councillor commits suicide
October 17th 2011
http://www.thestar.com/news/article/1071633
Before the councillor's gay teen son committed suicide, he wrote “It’s just too hard. I don’t want to wait three more years, this hurts too much,”. Jamie (the son) wrote a full hearted blog before he bid goodbye to the world. The 15 year old teen died on Friday, after pouring his heart out on twitter and Tumblr. The Councillor ( the father ),said that it was bullying that had taken his son's life. He said that his son had tried to start a Rainbow club in his high school to promote inclusiveness. The posters were torn down and he was called vicious names in the hallways and online,” he said. Jamie's blog was titled " You can't break when your already broken". Jamie described himself as no anything special, just depressed. Two weeks ago, Jamie wrote in his blog, "One day, I hope I will actually want to live" he also wrote, how he cut himself, and showed the razor marks on his forearm in black and white.
I think its quite sad, how bullies degrade gay people because the way they are. They should be accepted in the community, and be treated like one of us. Just because some people are gay, that doesn't mean that they should be treated any differently. I happen to have a friend who is also gay, but doesn't like people to know because they treat him weirdly. There shoulld be a law against discriminating gay people, and there should be a punishment also.

Hurricane Jova blamed for 3 deaths in Mexico
October 12th 2011
On the morning of October 12th, a massive hurricane hit the Pacific Coast of Mexico, causing floods in mountains and cities. There were 3 reports of deaths during this hurricane, and Hurricane Jova's winds were at 160 km/h. Due to the hurricane in Miami, it was said that the the hurricane would hit Mexico Tuesday night, to Wednesday morning. A 71 year old lady drowned when her and her son were in a car when the flood had hit.Her son, fortunately escaped and was not harmed. The heavy rain flooded Manzanillo, Mexico's second largest non-oil cargo port. It was closed to navigation because of the storm. Before the hurricane hit, the marine's had came to Mexico to evacuate citizens, and helped thousands of people escape Jova. I think it was very brave of the U.S marines, to put their lives on the line to help the citizens of Mexico. They had saved thousands of people from an appointment with certain death. Some citizens even took shelter in a local classroom in Jaluco, Mexico, and had survived Jova.

Ontario Provincial Electrion 2011 Healthcare.
September 28th 2011
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_J_eU6Awh4
On September 28th, 2011 an election for the leader of Ontario took place. The leaders that took part in this election, were :
Progressive Conservatives (PC) - Tim Hudak
Liberals- Dalton McGinty
New Democrat Party-Andrea Horwath
Our current premier of Ontario, is Dalton McGinty. He is the leader of the liberal party, and had been leading Ontario for 8 years now. In the debate that took place on September 28th, he looked unsure about what he was going to say next, and responses to his opponents remarks. Tim Hudak and Andrea Horwath were pounding Mr McGinty with insults of his "plan" for the years ahead for Health Care. "Mr McGinty is investing 4 billion dollars on useless projects, that have no effect, instead, he could have built four hospitals", says Andrea Horwath, Leader of the New Democratic Party. " My son had a fractured arm, and all the doctors told him to go home and find a sling for his arm. They didn't even treat it!" Said Andrea. Mr McGinty responded with " I'm sorry for your son ". He said nothing further, except the fact that he was going to build on the health care in the future. Tim Hudak, also responded with " Mr McGity has let million of dollars go down the drain and into the pockets of fancy consultance." The debate over health care was tight, and close. Mr McGinty was hammered throughout the whole debate, and didn't have much to say through the response to his opponents. Miss Andrea had a very good health plan, and if I get to vote in the near future, i would elect people like her for her hard work and dedication to our province.

Star is afraid of coming to Canada due to stalker.
September 30th 2011
http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Star+afraid+accused+stalker/5482159/story.html
On Thursday September 29th, an Ottawa doctor was accused of stalking Shania Twain, by sending her countless love letters saying how they would be perfect for each other, and following her wherever she went. Shania said that she is now scared to come to Canada, due to this stalker, and had to get a 24 hour security guard just to go to vacation in Dwight, Ont., cottage, and yet still found him parked outside her cottage with a Lamborghini, and in a boat back and forth across the adjacent river. Twain said she does NOT consider him a fan, but considers him a person that peruses her inappropriately. In the end, Twain made a restraining order against the doctor and he is not allowed to be within 500 meters of her. Twain also wants the doctor to be prosecuted. In my opinion, even though Shania Twain feels stalked, she has taken rash actions against this man. The restricting order was a good action, but the prosecution was not. Shania, being a star, should know better.

Deadly Typhoon hits the Philippines.
September 27th 2011
http://www.thestar.com/news/world/article/1060122--deadly-typhoon-lashes-philippines-with-150-km-h-winds
On September 27th, a deadly typhoon hit the Philippines with winds reaching up to 150km per hour. The disaster killed 16 people, mostly near metropolitan Manila, which was already soaked due to heavy rain. The police evacuated thousands of people, near the lower area, struggling in the flooding streets. “It's flooded everywhere. We don't have a place to go for shelter. Even my motorcycle got filled with water,” said motorist Ray Gonzales. Near the area of the typhoon, a billboard fell causing many injuries. Throughout the entire of this event, the Philippines stock exchange was closed, and so was all cellphone radio's. In my opinion, it was a good thing that most people were evacuated, and unfortunate that 16 people got killed. 5 hours before this event, some of my close family friends were visiting the Philippines and were actually in that area. It was a good thing they left, before it all happened.

Canada's destruction to be blamed on NASA?
September 20th 2011
http://www.montrealgazette.com/technology/Much+Canada+path+falling+space+junk+expected+Friday/5429399/story.html
A non-functional NASA satellite, is expected to fall to earth on Friday, spreading half a tonne of debris, and destroying most of Canada. Scientists expect at least 26 pieces of the satellite, with the total weight of the satellitte being 500 kilograms. The components include batteries, fuel, and twisted black pieces of metal. According to NASA, the explosion will not be too big, and mostly be in the inhabited area's of Canada. In my opinion, however, anything can happen. Although their is no recorded history of anyone being injured or killed in falling debris, it can still happen, and the people in Canada should still be alerted.

3 kills, and 15 wounds in Turkish capital
September 20th 2011,
On September 20th, 2011, a car bomb detonated in central Kizilay almost less than a kilometer from the Turkish Prime Minister's office. The explosion killed 3 people and wounded 15. The parked car in the neighbourhood, was filled with liquefied petroleum gas, which makes the probability of the car exploding, more likely. Due to all cars in Turkey having the petroleum gas, the bomb created a chain reaction with other cars wounding many more people. Out of the total 15 wounds, 5 were in critical condition, and had to be rushed to the hospital. The explosion took place a nearby primary school, and a bunch of shops, which were destroyed. President Abdullah Gul says its a terrorist attack, but in my opinion, it could have just been just about anything, from an oil leak, to a terrorist attack. Or,the car engine might have over heated and caught on fire, destroying many things around it.
