October 12th 2011
On the morning of October 12th, a massive hurricane hit the Pacific Coast of Mexico, causing floods in mountains and cities. There were 3 reports of deaths during this hurricane, and Hurricane Jova's winds were at 160 km/h. Due to the hurricane in Miami, it was said that the the hurricane would hit Mexico Tuesday night, to Wednesday morning. A 71 year old lady drowned when her and her son were in a car when the flood had hit.Her son, fortunately escaped and was not harmed. The heavy rain flooded Manzanillo, Mexico's second largest non-oil cargo port. It was closed to navigation because of the storm. Before the hurricane hit, the marine's had came to Mexico to evacuate citizens, and helped thousands of people escape Jova. I think it was very brave of the U.S marines, to put their lives on the line to help the citizens of Mexico. They had saved thousands of people from an appointment with certain death. Some citizens even took shelter in a local classroom in Jaluco, Mexico, and had survived Jova.
